cranky xmas fest 2015

previews

Cranky Booking hosts its annual Xmas bash this year at Marie Antoinette with the usual excellent line-up of bands.
Two years ago Cranky Xmas Fest hosted the launch party of Späti Palace, the record label which sprouted out of Cranky Booking, last year there was a release party at this very show and now this year sees the re-issue of local band Girlie’s debut EP which sold out in only a few weeks since its release on October 2nd this year.

Späti Palace are doing something right that’s for sure and its partnership with Cranky Booking has provided some great events over the past few years, if it’s proof you need then come along to this on Friday night, you won’t be disappointed.

Opening up on the night are Peach Peach, the alter-ego of Hush Moss who impressed at the summer cranky fest at Berghain. This outfit is decidedly more guitar oriented and this live show is not to be missed, having only appeared once at a Cranky Night we’re really excited to see these guys in action again. A track of theirs appeared on Collection#3, one of Späti Palace’ semi-regular compilations of bands currently knocking about town. Check it out on bandcamp.

Milwalkie are no strangers to a Cranky show having also taken part in the live bash in September aswell as at the (not so) last ever Cranky Night at Antje Öklesund back in June. These Scottish lads and their german drummer play a brand of indie-rock that has been comapared to Real Estate among others and have a live sound that’s simply a pleasure to witness every time.

The surprise find of the year is undoubtedly Girlie who released their debut EP on Späti Palace label and have quickly cemented their reputation as one of the most exciting bands around. Having seen their self-titled EP sell out already, there will be a second limited run of 50 tapes available at the show so get em while they’re hot folks.
